The 3rd MS2K server serves as the TELECOMM server hosting Artisoft Televantage Telephony services and Captaris RightFAx electronic FAX services. The SCO UNIX server runs a proprietary beef industry program. I am responsible for setting up worlstations and phones from runing to punching down network and telecomm cables.

Responsible for splitting the combined e-mail environment of Roche Bioscience (formerly Syntex Corp.) and BDI into 2 separate cc:Mail environments, converted exchange of cc:Mail between Roche and BDI to TCP/IP. Setup a SMTP gateway for Internet e-mail, and mail gateways for remote connectivity to cc:Mail by field personnel using phone dial-up and TCP/IP. Installed/setup/configured MSMail, and a gateway to interconnect cc:Mail to MSMail.

Senior Software Engineer. Network Systems Administrator/Analyst for the Business Department of NCCOSC ISE WC (NISE West), formerly NAVELEXCEN, on Mare Island, Vallejo, CA. Administrator of the LAN/WAN consisting of three Novell NetWare v3.x servers and seven technical code Novell NetWare servers on a 10mb Ethernet backbone via coax cable, fiberoptic cable, microwave, and CISCO AGS+ routers. Shared responsibility for network connectivity to NISE West San Diego via dedicated T1 and 56k lines. Oversaw e-mail connectivity between the Business Department (central e-mail distribution point) and seven technical code e-mail post offices. Responsible for connectivity to global cc:Mail post offices connected via TCP/IP and dial-up phone lines, as well as network and SMTP connectivity to the world via the INTERNET. Maintained and updated local DNS tables.

Consulted and assisted with
installation and troubleshooting of 3-com/NetWare LANs. Most of the above required a SECRET security clearance.

Electronics Technician/Logistics Specialist. Change of Contract support responsibility resulted in changing employers from SAIC to RCI. Responsibilities were the same as with RCI, including conducting routine and emergency Technical Assistance and Failure Analysis visits to US Navy ships and shore commands worldwide to determine failure and recommend corrective actions of satellite computerized communications data systems. Reviewed and updated logistic and maintenance requirements of same. Most of the above required a SECRET security clearance.

a crew of 6 to 10 DS Technicians responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of NTDS which interfaced with ships weapons, navigation, radar, sonar systems, and other ships in the fleet. Often required to work with other departments and work centers
to troubleshoot and correct equipment failures when situations became critical.

Attained the rank of Data Systems Technician Third Class Petty Officer (DS3/E-4) within 1 year after enlisting, and Data Systems Technician Second Class (DS2/E-5) after 2 1/2 years.) Responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of a wide variety of computerized weapons and data systems equipment. Maintained and operated the computerized networking interconnection system that allowed configuring of the many suites of equipment and systems maintained at CSTSC into any shipboard system for simulation, training and troubleshooting. Many times called upon to troubleshoot and correct equipment failures on equipment and systems for which I had received no formal training. On occasion, was required to assist with new equipment and system installations to correct installation deficiencies so that the projects could be accepted by the Navy. Responsible for the supply inventory of CSMTF, ordering and receiving repair parts, tools and equipment. Automated the In-house spare parts inventory and corrected maintenance procedures which were obsolete or ineffective. Awarded the CSMTF Sailor-of-the-Quarter three times and Sailor-of-the-Year one time for outstanding service.
